The Elusive Johanna (with alternative endings)

The Elusive Johanna

Sisters Jane and Joan were the best of friends
but lived their lives from different ends.
Jane made lists, and checked them twice,
a stickler for details and always precise.

Joan’s life was organized in stacks and piles,
her mind full of ideas too many to file.
Jane was all work and Joan all play,
Joan daydreamed away large parts of the day

Joan needed Jane to organize her life,
to keep her on track, to give her advise.
Jane needed Joan to give her life meaning,
to help her to see her reason for being.

Through most of their lives one or the other,
Took the lead and the other would follow.
But as the years rolled along,
both of these lives became equally strong.

The two lives began to synchronize,
and occasionally emerged to their surprise.
Johanna, the artist with organizational skills,
in touch with her emotions, in touch with her will.

Johanna would stay as long as she could,
and hoped to someday stay for good,
but she would disappear as fast as she came,
when her life became unbalanced again.
